for Creativity, Innovation & Change an interactive seminar for the Innovators Forum |
| 5 March
2008. Inner Business presented a 2 hour interactive seminar based
on their work in Creativity, Innovation & Change. to The Innovators
Forum - a network of leading Innovative Companies in the South West
organised by the Combined Universities for Cornwall (CUC).
We wanted to describe some of our philosophy and pass on some of our tools and techniques so that participants would have some added value. We didn't want to present a long and boring advert for Inner Business we wanted to do something that would be of real benefit to our audience. To that end we decided to take some of our own medicine. We came up with an innovative approach and took some risks that it would actually work. Fortunately it did. Rather than simply talk at our audience we decided to run a live creative workshop. Given the numbers attending it soon became apparent that one simple workshop wouldn't work and we ended up running 3 separate, but simultaneous workshops : ably aided by the staff of the CUC. So the evening took the form of short bursts of theory, perspectives and practice followed by live work on real business tasks brought along by the delegates. It worked ! We got some very positive feedback on the night and later the organisers published a review as part of their regular business newsletter. Peter Castell, the CUC Business Development Manager said : "This inspirational session seemed to be of particular value to delegates. Being out of the office environment and having input from expert speakers allowed them time to examine ways of thinking more creatively and to consider what new opportunities and perspectives might exist. That can bring a fresh lease of life to an existing business or help a long held concept to take off." |
